Water in Industry

First international water congress in industrial processes.

During the congress, topics related to agriculture, the mining industry, energy production and all industries that produce and process metals, wood, pulp, food and beverages, chemical products and fuels were addressed. These topics cover several areas of interest among which are: Water supply, transportation and storage, desalination, water analysis and control, efficient use of water, conditioning and water treatment, characterization of the effects, treatment of membranes, physical treatment and Effluent chemistries, biological treatments of industrial effluents and effluent discharge systems.

Leitat made an oral presentation on the work that is entitled: Recovery of effluents contaminated with arsenic for reuse in industrial processes.

Here, we present a highly efficient arsenic adsorbent which was manufactured by means of a simple and scalable process from polymeric and electrospinning nanofibers and impregnated with iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION) in the aqueous medium. Nanofiber support is a viable strategy to drastically improve the SPION adsorption capacity up to 36 times more compared to suspended nanoparticles.
